DES BIBLIOTHEQUES (sic) POUR LE FRONT Culture minister, Antoni Sbert, receives Government of Catalonia president, Lluís Companys, in the library service building. Images of the facilities, the book collection and the library map. Images of the speech made by Lluís Companys. Images of the trucks that take books to the front, the mobile libraries, featuring the inscription: ‘Ministry of Culture. Government of Catalonia Comissió de les lletres catalanes. Library service for the front'. 3. CASPE. TRAVAILLEURS DE LA MINE Images of Casp. Miners in a cage elevator going down into a coal mine and working in the galleries. 4. BARCELONE. ESPIONNE! - 20 ANNÉES DE PRISON Images of the former women's prison in Barcelona showing piles of barred doors that have been dismantled. It shows the facade of the new building constructed for the same purpose. Images of the interior, with groups of prisoners and guards, the prisoners engaged in manual work and chatting with each other. The narrator points out that one of the prisoners is a young convicted spy. 5. VALENCE. L'AIDE INTERNATIONALE. DE NOUVELLES AMBULANCES POUR LE FRONT Health minister, Federica Montseny, and Belgian parliamentary deputy, Isabelle Blume, watch from a balcony as six ambulances donated by the Fondo de Solidaridad Sindical Charity Fund of the Sindical Internacional Socialista union leave for the front. We see them inspecting the ambulances and are shown shots of the interior. 6. BARCELONE. EXPOSITION DE ROSES Antoni Maria Sbert opens an exhibition of roses in Pedralbes. Images of girls holding the various roses. Some of the roses carry a pink band: 'Friends of the Rose', 'Euzkadi' and 'Which rose is your favourite?'. 7. PUEBLA DE HIJAR (ARAGÓN). L'APPROVISIONNEMENT DE NOS TROUPES A row of soldiers load trucks destined for the Aragon front. Images of the trucks as a column and setting off. Some carry soldiers who raise their fists in salute. 8. SANTANDER. UN EXPLOIT DE L'AVIATION POPULAIRE: LE CROISEUR ESPAÑA" EST COULÉ! Aerial views of the battleship España at sea with smoke pouring from it following attacks by Republican aircraft. The narrator notes that this boat was quickly sunk by Republicans. The wing of the plane from which the images were filmed can be seen. 9. ANDUJAR (sic) (ANDALUCIA) (sic). UN EXPLOIT DE NOUS TROUPES. LA PRISE DU SANTUARIO DE LA VIRGEN DE LA CABEZA Images of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Cabeza. Militiamen can be seen among the ruins. Images of a number of soldiers leading a line of prisoners. The narrator notes that the soldiers defeated at the shrine witnessed the humanity of the Republican Army first-hand. 10. BARCELONE [1ER. (sic) DE MAIG] Images of commemorative arches and banners put up in Plaça Catalunya and along the Rambla de Canaletes in Barcelona for the May Day celebrations. 11. CASPE [1ER. (sic) DE MAIG] Tribute to Mexican workers living in Aragon during the May Day celebrations. Image from the main square packed with people. Dances and shows have been organised. We see the arrival of the official delegation with Joaquin Ascaso, president of Aragon, accompanied by military personnel. Image of Joaquín Ascaso in a fist raised salute and watching the celebrations with other dignitaries from a balcony, from which the Mexican flag has been hung. A banner reads 'People of Mexico: Aragon thanks you'. 12. GUADALAJARA [1ER. (sic) DE MAIG] Images of a town in Guadalajara during the May Day celebrations. It shows a political rally featuring soldiers which was attended by Commander of the Popular Army, Enrique Líster.
